Molly Miller is a recipient of the 2018 Gertrude Crain Award presented by Connectiv. The Gertrude Crain Award recognizes a woman within the B2B Media and Information community who embodies the SIIA Women’s Leadership and Networking Council’s Mission of excellence, service and success.
Molly will be presented with the 2018 Gertrude Crain Award at the Connectiv CEO Summit on Thursday, May 10th in New Orleans, LA.

Molly is responsible for leading the Global Newsroom of 100+ journalists and 30 brands serving professional audiences in law, property and casualty insurance, financial services, real estate, benefits and consulting. Since joining ALM in 2012, Molly has held several leadership positions including Publisher and Chief Marketing Officer. Previously, Molly held marketing, editorial, and product champion roles at LexisNexis after earning her JD and working in law firms and as a reporter at newspapers in the Cincinnati area.
Molly has most recently led the reinvention of ALM’s print and brand-centric Newsroom into a digital first, global organization. Her vision helped ALM launch innovative products such as Morning Minute, Law.com Briefings, Mid-Market Report, Global Leaders in Law and other soon-to-be-launched offerings, such as Lean Adviser Legal. Molly identified and elevated women to leadership positions within ALM’s various theme desks and publications. Women now comprise 50% of the ALM editorial management staff. She also advanced young legal leaders through ALM’s fellowship program, Equal Justice Works. She has served on the boards of The Campaign for Legal Services (Silicon Valley’s Legal Access Fund) and Legal Aid at Work in San Francisco.

Ryan Palmer, Director of DC Community Initiatives – A native Washingtonian, Palmer has dedicated her career to serving and advocating for the most vulnerable populations. Most recently, she served as Chief External Relations Officer for Martha’s Table. Palmer brings extensive experience working across the nonprofit, philanthropic, business, and government sectors. In her new role, she is committed to building and leveraging partnerships with an array of Washington-area leaders and community champions to achieve the Foundation’s mission.
Natalie Grandison, Director of Engineering Initiatives – Grandison will oversee the Foundation’s engineering portfolio. Previously, she was the Director of External Relations in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Maryland’s Clark School of Engineering. At the University of Maryland, she fostered business-university partnerships and oversaw student and departmental programs. In her new position, she will manage the Foundation’s signature academic program, the A. James Clark Scholars program, which has now been established at 10 campuses nationwide. She will also manage the Foundation’s multi-year investment of nearly $220 million to the University of Maryland.
Jennifer Houston, Operations and Grants Manager – Houston will spearhead the Foundation’s grant and operations infrastructure, overseeing systems to streamline grant management and support the success of the Foundation’s grantees. Having previously served as Vice President of Special Projects and Events at the consulting firm Innovative Philanthropy, Jennifer brings strong experience working with high-profile nonprofit clients in capacities that include grantmaking, foundation management, and event execution.
Dr. Cynthia Jackson-Hammond is the eighth president of Central State University where she is recognized as an innovative leader expanding course offerings and infrastructure for the students. She earned a Doctorate of Higher Education from Grambling State University, an Education Specialist degree in counseling education and a Master’s degree in communications from the University of Louisiana-Monroe, and a Bachelor’s degree from Grambling State University.
Dr. Kent J. Smith, Jr. serves as the 16th president of Langston University with more than twenty years of experience in higher education. Under his leadership, Langston University has seen record highs in fundraising, admissions applications, and freshman enrollment. Dr. Smith earned a Bachelor of Science in secondary education, a Master of Education in educational administration and supervision from Southern University and A&M College in Baton Rouge, and a Doctorate in education and human resources studies, from Colorado State University in Fort Collins.
