Cisco Nominates Carol B. Tomé to Board of Directors

Cisco announced that Carol B. Tomé has been nominated for election to its Board of Directors at the company’s Annual Meeting of Shareholders on December 10, 2019. Current board member Steven M. West will be retiring at the end of his term on the date of the annual meeting.

“Carol is a highly respected leader who played a pivotal role in increasing shareholder value during her tenure at Home Depot,” said Cisco Chairman and CEO Chuck Robbins. “We are excited to have her join our board and look forward to working closely with her as we continue to transform our business.” Robbins continued, “I also want to sincerely thank Steve for his significant contribution to our board over the past 23 years. I deeply appreciate his partnership, friendship and dedication to Cisco.”

Tomé, 62, served as Home Depot’s chief financial officer from May 2001 and executive vice president, Corporate Services from January 2007 until her retirement in August 2019. During her 24 years at Home Depot, Tomé also served as senior vice president of Finance and Accounting/Treasurer, and as vice president and treasurer. Prior to joining Home Depot, Tomé was vice president and treasurer of Riverwood International Corporation. Tomé serves as a director of United Parcel Service, Inc.

Current Cisco directors that have also been nominated for election are: M. Michele Burns; Wesley G. Bush; Michael D. Capellas; Mark Garrett; Dr. Kristina M. Johnson; Roderick C. McGeary; Charles H. Robbins; Arun Sarin; and Brenton L. Saunders.

Ellen M. Pawlikowski elected to Raytheon board of directors

The board of directors of Raytheon Company has elected General Ellen M. Pawlikowski, USAF, Retired, as a director, effective immediately.

Pawlikowski, 61, retired as Commander, U.S. Air Force Materiel Command, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, on September 1, 2018. During her command, she executed the critical mission of warfighter support through leading-edge science and technology, complete life cycle weapons systems management, world-class developmental test and evaluation, and depot maintenance and supply chain management.

In commenting on the appointment, Thomas A. Kennedy, chairman and CEO of Raytheon, said “Ellen is widely recognized for her leadership in the U.S. science and technology community. Her distinguished career put her at the forefront of advanced technology, acquisition and national security policy in support of our nation’s security, areas that will serve our company well as we further align to the National Defense Strategy and execute our global growth plan.”

Pawlikowski entered the U.S. Air Force in 1978 through the ROTC program at the New Jersey Institute of Technology. Her career has spanned a wide variety of technical management, leadership and staff positions, including command at the wing and center levels. She has served as Director of the Acquisition Management Office for the Assistant to the Secretary of Defense for Atomic Energy, and as Deputy Assistant to the Secretary of Defense for Counterproliferation, Office of the Secretary of Defense. Her leadership assignments included Program Director of the Airborne Laser Program; Commander of the Military Satellite Communications Systems Wing; Deputy Director of the National Reconnaissance Office; Commander of the Air Force Research Laboratory; and Commander of the Space and Missile Systems Center. Prior to her most recent Command, Pawlikowski was the Military Deputy, Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Acquisition, based in the Pentagon.

Pawlikowski’s major awards and decorations include the Masters Space Operations Badge, the Air Force Master Acquisition and Financial Management Badge, the Office of the Secretary of Defense Identification Badge, and the Headquarters Air Force Badge. Among her many decorations, Pawlikowski is the recipient of the Distinguished Service Medal with one oak leaf cluster, the Defense Superior Service Medal with two oak leaf clusters, the Legion of Merit, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal and the Meritorious Service Medal with two oak leaf clusters.

Pawlikowski holds a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from the New Jersey Institute of Technology and a PhD in chemical engineering from the University of California, Berkeley. She is a graduate of the Squadron Officer School at Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama, the Air Command and Staff College at Maxwell AFB and the Industrial College of the Armed Forces at Ft. McNair, Washington, DC.

Anika Appoints Dr. Cheryl Blanchard to Its Board of Directors

Anika Therapeutics, Inc., a global, integrated orthopedic and regenerative medicines company specializing in therapeutics based on its proprietary hyaluronic acid technology, announced that Cheryl R. Blanchard, Ph.D., President and Chief Executive Officer of Keratin Biosciences, Inc., has been appointed as a new independent member of the Company’s Board of Directors with a term continuing through the Company’s 2019 Annual Meeting of Stockholders. With Dr. Blanchard’s appointment, the Board of Directors has been expanded to seven directors.

“With more than 30 years of leadership and board experience in medical devices and biotechnology, Cheryl is an outstanding addition to Anika’s Board,” said Joseph L. Bower, Chairman of the Board. “We are committed to strong corporate governance. Dr. Blanchard currently serves as President and CEO of Keratin Biosciences, Inc., a venture-backed biotech company developing regenerative medicine and drug delivery therapies based on a purified human-derived keratin technology platform. She also serves as a director of SeaSpine Holdings Corporation, CeramTec GMBH, Elute, and Bio2 Technologies, is a member of the National Academy of Engineering, and advises a number of venture and private equity clients.

Previously, she served in a number of leadership roles, including Sr. Vice President and Chief Scientific Officer and GM, Biologics, at Zimmer, Inc., a worldwide healthcare leader in the design, development, manufacture and marketing of orthopedic implants.

Dr. Blanchard holds 32 patents, many of which are used in commercial applications, and has over 50 peer-reviewed publications. She holds a Bachelor of Science with Honors in Ceramic Engineering from Alfred University, and a Master of Science and Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering, both from the University of Texas at Austin.

American Campus Communities Appoints Mary C. Egan to Board of Directors

American Campus Communities, Inc., the largest owner, manager and developer of high-quality student housing properties in the U.S., announced the appointment of Mary C. Egan to the company’s Board of Directors, effective immediately. Egan will serve as an independent director of the company.

Egan is currently the founder and president of Customer Centric Research and Strategy, a boutique management consulting firm serving the consumer sector. In 2013, Egan founded Gatheredtable (a software company providing customized meal planning consumer subscriptions), serving as the chief executive officer through the recent strategic exit to Medifast (NYSE: MED). From 2010 to 2012, Ms. Egan served as the chief strategy officer for Starbucks Corporation (NASDAQ: SBUX), a global coffee retailer, where she also led corporate development as well as the food category. From 1997 through 2010, Egan was a managing director at The Boston Consulting Group (BCG), a global management consulting firm. At BCG, Egan specialized in aggressive growth strategies in partnership with consumer-facing businesses. Egan currently serves on the Board of Directors of Noodles & Company (NASDAQ: NDLS), a fast-casual restaurant concept. She holds a BA from Barnard College, Columbia University, an MSEd from Bank Street Graduate School of Education and an MBA from Columbia Business School.
