Industry veteran to lead DERMA E as President and CEO
DERMA E, a leading natural, eco-ethical skincare brand, announced that Brenda Wu has been selected as its new President and CEO, effective immediately. She will also become a member of the DERMA E Board of Directors.
California-based DERMA E is a rapidly growing trailblazer of eco-ethical skincare and is one of only four brands to garner the highest recognition for ‘naturalness’ from independent industry analysts. For nearly 35 years, DERMA E has been providing natural, vegan and cruelty-free products, formulated and manufactured in an ethical way, to address a wide range of skincare concerns, with distribution at leading natural and beauty retailers throughout twenty countries worldwide. New Mountain Capital, a growth-oriented private equity firm that manages more than $20 billion in assets, backs DERMA E and has helped DERMA E accelerate its category-leading growth.
Wu joins DERMA E after more than a decade of success at L’Oréal, where she worked with trusted brands such as Skinceuticals, Giorgio Armani Beauty, Lancôme and Kiehl’s. Most recently, Wu served as U.S. General Manager of Skinceuticals. Under Wu’s leadership, Skinceuticals became the #1 professional skincare brand in the U.S. Prior to L’Oréal, Wu led teams in retail merchandising at Banana Republic, digital marketing at AOL Time Warner and strategy consulting at Bain & Company. Wu is a graduate of Harvard University, holds a M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and has also attended Harvard Law School and the Christine Valmy Esthetics school.
“I am thrilled and honored to join DERMA E as President and CEO,” commented Wu. “DERMA E is a brand that resonates strongly with today’s discerning customers and the DERMA E organization has a purposeful mission to deliver innovative, uncompromising and high-quality products that are better for both consumers and the environment. I look forward to working with the DERMA E team during this exciting stage of growth to further the brands commitment to its customers and partners.”
“Brenda is a proven leader with an exceptional track-record of delivering results through a dedication to her teams, ongoing innovation and partnership with customers,” added Andre Moura, Chairman of the DERMA E Board of Directors and Managing Director at New Mountain Capital. “We’re excited to see Brenda fit right in with the DERMA E team and help DERMA E further its mission of providing customers and consumers access to clinically-supported, natural products that result in healthy, beautiful skin.”
As President and CEO, Wu will oversee DERMA E’s overall strategy and continued growth.
