Erminia (Ernie) Johannson is BMO’s Group Head of North American Personal and Business Banking and a member of the bank’s Executive Committee. Johannson leads a team of 19,000 responsible for helping nearly 10 million personal and business banking customers make real financial progress.
In her current role, Johannson supports BMO’s efforts to accelerate growth, building on her passion for delivering exceptional customer service and her track record of innovating and generating sustainable profit growth in a rapidly changing environment. Under her leadership, the Personal and Business Banking teams have been recognized regularly for best-in-class products and customer experience, including among Forbes list of World’s Best Banks and American Banker’s ranking of the Top 15 Customer Experiences.
Johannson serves on the board of directors of the U.S. Consumer Bankers Association, as well as on the board and executive committee for the Canadian Banking Association. American Banker magazine has included Ernie on its list of the Most Powerful Women in Banking since 2019. In 2020, Forbes named her one of the 13 Women Changing the Money Industry not Even the Coronavirus can Stop.
